It’s been almost two months since I flew back to China to visit my grandparents, and I’ve found a lot of good food throughout the visit. However, the ONE thing that surprised me the most is KFC China’s classic chicken sandwich. And I have to admit, it is the BEST fast food chicken sandwich I’ve ever had!

The chicken sandwich itself cost 19.5 Chinese Yuan (about $2.68), which was made simply with a sesame seed bun, a huge piece of fried chicken filet, and some lettuce. However, I discovered this great combo deal, which I also ordered myself. It comes with a classic chicken sandwich, a fresh-made egg tart, a small popcorn chicken, and a medium Pepsi, all for 26 Chinese Yuan ($3.57). What a deal!

The star of the show is undeniably the golden-brown chicken filet. The coating is nice and crunchy, and the meat is very tender inside. Yet, the seasoning might be a little different from the US chicken sandwich – KFC China’s chicken filet does have a more herby and peppery flavor. And instead of sliced pickles, which I found the majority of Chinese people don’t quite enjoy, the Chinese version used lettuce to counter the richness of the chicken filet, making it more refreshing.
The secret weapon of the KFC China chicken sandwich, however, is the sauce. I can’t really tell what sauce they used instead of mayo, and obviously it is their secret recipe, but it does bring the chicken sandwich to the next level.
Overall, it’s a 9.5/10 chicken sandwich.
Will I eat it again? A HUNDRED PERCENT!
Is it better than the US version? Yes, I can confirm that.
You’ll probably see me visiting KFC for this chicken sandwich at least once a week. It's fresh, affordable, and delicious. It’s all you want in a chicken sandwich.
